Australian partners sign up to e-IDV
GB announced in June that it has joined forces with Unisys Australia to make its electronic ID verification solution available to Australian businesses in anticipation of wide adoption of e-IDV over the coming year.
Richard Law, GB’s Chief Executive, commented: “Our ID3 technology is already being used by the UK’s largest financial organisations including HBOS, RBS and Lloyds TSB. ID3 is tried and tested in the UK and Europe, where organisations are using the service to comply with regulations that are almost identical to those that recently came into force in Australia. The Australian Federal Police reports that federal crimes such as money laundering costs between $1 billion and $4 billion in Australia each year.
The proceeds of these crimes are often used to fund serious organised crime such as drug trafficking and terrorism. For this reason it may not be long before sectors other than finance are also governed by strict anti-fraud and money laundering legislation.
Australia has been at the front line of the battle against fraud and money laundering and has always taken a radical stance on these matters. Our ID3 service will provide the next step in this campaign, and will help organisations to protect hard won reputations and consumer confidence.”
Rob Dewar, Managing Partner, Financial Services, at Unisys Australia and New Zealand agrees: “We are delighted to have signed this agreement with GB to provide the ID3 electronic identity verification service in Australia. GB is recognised as one of the leading players in e-IDV globally and ID3 is tailored to the requirements of the Australian market, in particular the new AML-CT regulations which take effect in the near future and .... the response so far from Australian businesses - particularly Financial Services organisations - has been encouraging.”
