GB sponsors 'green day' to promote responsible trading

July 24th was 24/7 day - the twenty-fourth day of the seventh month when each year the IMRG celebrates all that's great about online trading.

This year, the internet shopping industry presented its new Online Green Awards - the OLGAs - to inspire, encourage and reward individuals and companies who are using internet commerce to progress towards conservation of the earth's resources and/or a reduction in their carbon footprint. GB was a proud sponsor of this exciting event and in particular the award for Best Small Retailer, which was awarded to Gizoo.co.uk at a packed ceremony at London's Kensington Roof Gardens.

9,000 consumers and an independent panel of respected judges chose the OLGA winners from 30 entries submitted by many of the most advanced businesses in the UK.

During the day, GB's DataSolutions Sales Director, Bill Mooney, presented on how retailers are taking the green issue into consideration when planning marketing and customer service initiatives.

James Roper, CEO of IMRG, said: "A growing body of research from around the world is proving that internet shopping can be green, and that its overall effect is green. The GO GREEN, GO ONLINE campaign aims to raise awareness of the huge potential that the internet-enabled marketplace presents to further increase efficiency and reduce waste.”
