Hi there...

Welcome to the May edition of ID3 News! A chance to take a look inside the latest events and developments at GB Group.

Since our last ID3 News, we have welcomed over 100 users to our third annual User Group as well as hosting a number of focus groups looking at industry topics such as the need for a global approach to self exclusion in gaming - and a more robust approach to combating fraud in the retail sector.

It would appear that the debate around protecting consumers' identity is shifting towards an emphasis on business' responsibility. In the six months since the HMRC data scandal in November, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has reported 94 further data breaches - over 30% of them in the private sector, with financial services companies coming out as the worst offenders. More recently the ICO announced that future breaches or mishandling of personal identity information will result in far higher fines - and even jail sentences - for corporate management.

GB is leading the way in the argument that identity matters - not just from a compliance perspective but as fundamental bedrock of customer management. For proof of how "knowing the customer" can really work in business, see the article on mobile marketing leader Blyk. Our unprecedented growth levels in the past year are very much due to a rise in demand for identity-led services - not just from direct clients but also in the area of partner developments. Read how the Exchange has integrated URU in order to offer online identity verification as a service to its 25,500 independent financial adviser members.

As always, we really appreciate your feedback and suggestions on future content or improvements to the ID3 Newsletter. Some people have suggested that they would like to receive the Newsletter in hard, paper copy - what do you think?  Click here to indicate if you would like to receive ID3 News in email or paper format.
